v1.3.1 Theme sometimes works, sometimes doesn't

I have Syncthing installed on several servers (all windows). I don’t like the default white theme, so I switch to the Dark-theme. On most servers this works, but on some, whatever I set the theme to, nothing changes and the page stays with white background. Going back to settings or even checking the config.xml confirms the setting does get set, so it’s not the setting itself causing it: 127.0.0.1:8384 dark

Devices disconnected when changing a folder settings

@Otiel wrote:

After editing a folder through Syncthing GUI, changing any setting and clicking “Save”, the devices that this folder is shared with become “Disconnected”. Then I have to wait the usual tens of seconds for the address to be discovered again and the devices to appear “Connected”.

Is that expected / a bug / something that could be improved? Should I create a GitHub issue to track this?

I use the default Global Discovery servers, if that is relevant.

Question on setup private relay server ...

@poorren wrote:

Hello guys,

I tried to use syncthing to sync my office PC and home laptop. Things seems to be pretty good for past year. Most of time, the sync is relay mode (no direct connection between my home and office). Because most of files are very small, the speed is not an issue until last week.

In this week, I have to sync some big files (~1GB). The speed becomes a headache for me. And I decide to setup a private relay server for myself on AWS. (I’m using AWS’s first year free instance.)

The first question is that when I run relay without -pools="", I could find my relay server on https://relays.syncthing.net/. I guess everything work fine. Then, I run with -pools="" like below (make it private)

I couldn’t understand why ipv4 address is 0.0.0.0 in relay ID ?? If that’s correct, how syncthing client find this relay server?

The second question is how to correctly config syncthing client to use this private relay server? I experimently configure client as below.

The client log shows something is not correct. The document on this topic is very brief and better than nothing. I couldn’t figure out the correct way to make things happen. Please help. Thanks advance!

Here's log.

Hello

I used syncthing (debian linx) in the local network for a long time, all ok.

I made some changes and stopped working using the GUI.

I ran on [apt-get purge syncthing] and then I reinstalled everything again on the two devices on the local network but it doesn’t work anymore.

Here is the message:

What to do? Thanks

These files are in failed items. How do I do to fix this issue programmatically or is there a way to do so?

I can rename manually to something else such as from

  • 小ゼミ予定表2019年度前期.xlsx
  • to 小ゼミ予定表2019年度前期.xls and
  • change it back again to 小ゼミ予定表2019年度前期.xlsx

Then syncthing will be able to work properly. However, I have many files with this problem. If you have any suggestion, please share.

Note: the problem started when I moved syncthing folders to another disk. Syncthing v1.3.1 Linux (64-bit) on Docker, macOS 10.13.6.

sync photo's between phones and PC

@jftaal wrote:

Hi there! In my quest to use Google services less and less I started to use syncthing for sharing photo’s with my wife.

The setup that I have now is as follow:

One Odroid server with syncting installed. And on this device I have a folder that is synced with our android phones camera folder and with a PC with a large HHD. I have the folder on the Odroid server set with IgnoreDelete. In this setup when I or my wife take a photo I get the photo as well. And this works visa versa ofcourse. Also it gets synced with the PC. But ofcourse if one of us takes a photo that I or my wife is not intressed in we can simply delete it. But becouse of the IgoreDelete option on the Odroid server it does not get deleted on the other phone or on the Odroid server or on the PC.

This also creates problems. Which I dont know how to fix or configure.

  1. The reason I have the sync on the PC was the thought that I could archive some photos from time to time. In normal sync it would free up space on the phones and odroid server as well. But becouse of the ignoredelete on the server folder it keeps them and no freed up space on the phones. Is there a config that still removes photos when removed from the PC folder?

  2. When I and my wife delete the same photo on both our phones it there is still a copy on the Odroid server and on the PC. Is there a configuration that delete a photo that is deleted on both phones?

PS sorry for my bad english. And thank you for your responses.

Hello, i try use “external file versioning”. I found referencial script I edit my path, only. I use on my notebook where is Ubuntu 18.04 and sync with my android phone. If i remove file from phone, syncthing does not work and write delete file: exit status 2.

I add this exec 2> ~/sync_log.txt to script and i see in log file this onlylatest.sh: 10: onlylatest.sh: 1: parameter not set

On 10th line is assign parameter folderpath="$1" this looks like, syncthing does not pass parameters to script.

I use Syncthing 1.3.1 on notebook

Thank for answer.

Syncthing is cool. :slight_smile:

How to setup syncthing on pi 4 with multiple computers?

@Jonney_Richy wrote:

Hi i just discovered this program recently and wanted to get some help on how to set it up.

Objective:

Create a private dropbox-like system that runs on my pi 4 and allow my computers to access it through my LAN and also outside remotely and able to Sync files across all the machines.

Computers i have: Pi 4 with docker installed and 2 ext 2.5 hdd’s Desktop windows machine apple macbook pro laptop A windows based laptop.

I have installed the docker image using this guide https://github.com/syncthing/syncthing/blob/master/README-Docker.md But now confused as to how to run this through docker and specifically want to know what this -v tag is on the readme?

Is the -v tag used to specify where i want the data folder to be in?

What happens if once i start syncthing via docker and i close the docker container, do i lose all my sync data?

How can i specify that syncthing uses my ext hdd (for example its location is /media/ext/hdd1) to store the synced folder data?

Can Synthing do the below:

Pi 4 having 3 folders on the ext drive called pictures, documents and music,

Have all my other computers sync to those 3 folders.

If my apple machine adds document 1 and 2 on the document folder, does that get synced across all my other devices either through my LAN or remotely?

What if i later migrate the container of synthing into a ubuntu server of my choosing and copy the sync folders i had before on it, and run the container again, can i maintain the same sycn data (assuming i tweak the synch connection of the other machines to now link up to the new server machine?)

Thanks in advance and looking forward to using this

I use Syncthing for two linux and two android devices. On phone is used as hotspot and internet access. I travel fulltime and do not want Syncthing to.

I do not want Syncthing to sync trough the internet and therefore i have disabled global discovery.

I am not sure if that’s enough, so additionally i set allowed networks to 192.168.43.0/255. on all devices.

Will that be enough to restrain Syncthing to use the internet?

Thanks, Enjoy

Accidentally renamed sync target folder -- data loss on source?

$

@David.P wrote:

Hi Forum,

rather carelessly, I changed the name of my synchronization target folder “D:\MyFolderName” on my PC ‘B’ today.

The source folder is a network drive which is displayed on my laptop ‘A’ with a network drive letter like this: “Z:\MyFolderName”. Synchronization is set up both ways (“Send and Receive”).

After a few minutes I stopped the synchronization. However, Synctrayzor already had thrown lots of tray icon messages on PC ‘B’ like “couldn’t delete folder XYZ” (or something similar).

Now I’m worried that on the sync source network drive under “Z:\MyFolderName”, hundreds or thousands of files/folders may have been already deleted.

Which of the Synctrayzor or Syncthing log files would I have to look into to find and trace down any possible deletions on that network drive “Z”?

Emergency assistance would be much appreciated :o

Safely move synchronized folder

$

@David.P wrote:

Hi all,

I am rather paranoid about manually moving my synchronized folder (“sync target”) and then re-establishing synchronization between the sync source and that moved target folder. Specifically, I need to move my synchronized folder to another hard drive.

There’s already some threads about it, however I’m not entirely sure which way to go:

As far as I know, for example, the date of file folders is changed by Windows when they are moved, to the time they were moved, at least when moving to another hard drive.

Now I’m afraid that this will cause folders and possibly also files from the synchronization target to be overwritten in the synchronization source, because the target suddenly contains thousands of apparently brand-new folders.

Many thanks for all ideas on how to move a synchronized folder (sync target) so that there is no risk of damaging the sync source, especially not by mass-overwriting it with files/folders from the target.

Error syncing Joplin notes - help configuring syncthing

@rogerm4242 wrote:

I am trying to sync my Joplin notes between my PC and Android phone with syncthing. At times, I will have issues with notes getting corrupted.

To reproduce the problem:

  1. Create a new note with several lines in Joplin.
  2. Delete a line from the note.
  3. Hit “Syncronize” in Joplin

Can someone suggest a way to configure the syncthing full scans and the file system watcher to avoid a problem like this?

In discussing the issue on the Joplin forum, one of the Joplin maintainers suggested that syncthing and Joplin are not working together nicely. I guess I need to learn more about how syncthing works to fully understand the issue.
